The protagonist is a hero among the ilk who tirelessly searches for the woman he knows will probably be the cause of his downfall. The film is narrated in the first person and also has a very Nolanian montage, making us dive between present, past and reminiscences. We come to have memories of memories, another narrative matrioshka. In this way it also reminds us a bit of ‘Total Challenge’. ReminiscenceThe film is very well done on paper. The story is correctly spun but you have to allow it some licenses. I suppose that being aware of this they have wanted to give the film a more romantic or artistic touch. What I do consider a failure is that in those holographically projected reminiscences, a la ‘Minority Report’, there are things that the subject has not seen or witnessed.
If you like movies loaded with text ‘Reminiscence’ is for you, something we also had plenty in ‘Westworld’. But to have so much narrative they could have used something more than metaphor. Although it is true that although this narrative symbolism is missing, the film leaves us with some phrases that can be extrapolated to the field of the entertainment industry or even of today’s society: “Nostalgia never goes out of style” and “Nostalgia as a way of life” are two very descriptive sentences that will make us look at our navel and think to what extent we depend on our memories.
